Beirut, Lebanon - September 2, 2026: Alfa has continued to expand and modernize its network with 93 new sites deployed to date since H.E. Charles Hage assumed office as Minister of Telecommunications. This includes 47 sites in 2025 and 46 since the beginning of 2026.The network expansion project aims to address coverage gaps, expand the network’s reach, and provide broader coverage and improved service quality. The new sites carry 47 terabytes of data traffic, representing approximately 7 percent of total daily internet consumption across Alfa’s network.The faster pace of deployment this year reflects a 28 percent increase in productivity and efficiency compared with 2025.55 percent of the new sites have been deployed in areas that require coverage enhancements while the remaining 45 percent of the deployment plan involved replacing existing sites or relocating sites to new locations. This includes sites that were damaged or destroyed during the two recent wars, as well as sites that had previously been dismantled following disputes with property owners.Approximately 50 percent of the new sites are equipped with solar power, as part of Alfa’s efforts to adopt more sustainable solutions and improve energy efficiency.The new sites cover Beirut and 23 districts, including Marjeyoun, Zahle, Metn, Koura, Bsharri, Chouf, Jbeil, Bint Jbeil, Tripoli, Keserwan, Tyre, Akkar, Baabda, Zgharta, Rachaya, Nabatieh, Batroun, Hermel, Baalbek, Sidon, Minieh-Dinnieh, Aley and Jezzine.

Alfa Chairman and CEO Rafic El Haddad said: “The 4-year network development roadmap has so far focused not only on strengthening coverage through the deployment of a significant number of new sites but also on modernizing three key strategic systems that manage subscribers services. These upgrades are improving service performance, giving our subscribers more features and greater flexibility, and enhancing their overall experience”.He added: “Our network modernization and expansion project will further strengthen network performance and service quality. The project is expected to be completed before the end of the second quarter of 2027 and will benefit more than 600,000 subscribers across different regions of Lebanon”. El Haddad revealed that 20 additional sites will be deployed by the end of this year, primarily in Akkar, Baalbek, Metn, Tripoli, Minieh, Beirut, Chouf, Jbeil, Jezzine, Koura and Sidon, explaining that “these sites will enable the network to carry an additional 14 terabytes of data traffic per day”. He added: “Through increased investment in our infrastructure and close cooperation between Alfa and the Ministry of Telecommunications, we have achieved concrete and measurable results. We will continue investing in our network to ensure that it is well positioned to support the future expansion of 5G and artificial intelligence technologies”. Alfa relies primarily on equipment from global vendors Ericsson and Nokia with the capacity of the new sites tailored to the specific needs of each area and the expected volume of data traffic. This approach ensures the optimal use of equipment, licenses and available resources.In parallel, 10 Cells On Wheels (COWs) have been deployed, including 7 in the South, helping restore coverage in affected areas. These mobile sites have contributed to increasing Alfa’s network coverage in the South from 70 percent during the war to approximately 90 percent currently.The network development plan also includes enhancing 4G capacity across more than 900 sectors through higher levels of carrier aggregation, reaching 4CC and 5CC, as well as increasing capacity across more than 30 microwave links. These upgrades will enable the network to deliver higher capacity and faster speeds.
