12 February 2019

During the National Workshop for “People with Iron Will” held at the Lebanese Parliament under the patronage and in presence of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Gebran Bassil, Alfa CEO and Chairman Marwan Hayek spoke about Alfa’s experience as a socially responsible company. He said that he personally adopted and launched the « People with Iron Will » denomination, calling for its widespread use and defending it in several platforms, the latest of which being the United Nations, is the result of a firm commitment to this cause, which has become a pillar of the company and a catalyst for its work. Hayek pointed out that Alfa is committed to Law 220/2000, which governs the rights of People with Iron Will and their employment, as it is a reflection of Alfa’s role as a socially responsible company. He added that Alfa exceeded the 3% quota stipulated by the law concerning the employment of People with Iron Will, with the first employee with Iron Will joining the company since its foundation. « Our work on this cause is well-established and part of our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan 2030. Our impact is at all levels, especially through the initiatives we launch. We have implemented more than 70 initiatives since the launch of the Alfa 4-Life CSR program. » In the end, Hayek hoped that the first practical steps of this meeting would be the official adoption of the « People with Iron Will » designation in Law 220/2000.
