Minister of Telecommunications, Alfa Management Discuss Latest Developments in Telecom Sector

Beirut, Lebanon - January 30, 2026: Minister of Telecommunications, Charles Hage, held a meeting today with Chairman and CEO of Alfa, Rafic El Haddad along with the company’s management to evaluate the latest developments in the sector and discuss the future development strategy.

Minister Hage expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts to enhance network coverage and service quality, which reflects a dynamic and active approach. He also praised the performance of the employees. Minister Hage said: “the main network KPIs show a significant improvement in network coverage and performance which citizens are gradually experiencing”.
He noted that “for the first time in 20 years, the Ministry of Telecommunications has developed a long-term, 4- year plan that includes a clear vision for the sector’s future and its role in advancing the digital economy.” He emphasized “the necessity of investing in the sector as an essential and fundamental step for development,” stating that “efforts are underway to launch fiber-optic networks and 5G services which Alfa pioneered in Lebanon during the Pope’s visit, with fiber optics expected soon”.

For his part, Alfa CEO and Chairman Rafic El Haddad thanked Minister Hage for his support, emphasizing that the Minister’s vision for the sector has created momentum in the work environment. “This visit is a New Year’s greeting and a message of gratitude on behalf of the Alfa team”, El Haddad said.
He added: “We are witnessing remarkable indicators on the network, and we can confidently say that it has regained its operational capacity to pre-crisis levels, demonstrating high readiness to accommodate the continuously growing data consumption”.
El Haddad stated that “the various initiatives and services we have launched have contributed to an increase in revenues and transfers to the treasury which exceeded our expectations”. He emphasized that “Alfa looks forward to playing an active role in enabling the digital economy by enhancing network readiness and introducing more innovation in the services portfolio”. He added: “the live 5G experience served as a testament to the Lebanese people’s strong demand for digital services which necessitates ongoing development. Alfa is fully prepared and ready to start the implementation of the network development plan following cabinet approval”.
