CEO & Chairman of Alfa, Jad Nassif at 10XICT: Alfa is upgrading 80% of its network, a State-of-The-Art Data Center is coming soon

Beirut- Lebanon, June 24, 2025: Alfa Chairman and CEO, Jad Nassif held a dialogue session with the media on the sidelines of the 10XICT Conference, which was inaugurated under the patronage of Minister of Telecommunications, Charles Hage. During the Q&A discussion, he outlined the company’s key projects aimed at upgrading the network and enhancing service quality, announcing for the first time the completion of the state-of-the-art Alfa Data Center, which will be inaugurated soon and will allow Alfa to form partnerships with interested companies.

Speaking to the media at Alfa’s booth under the slogan: “Proudly Serving Lebanon. Customer-focused, Future-Ready, Nassif announced that this gathering marks the start of a series of regular discussions with the media to keep the public informed on Alfa’s plans and projects carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Telecommunications, aiming to enhance service quality, improve coverage, and enhance the digital customer experience.

He provided detailed insights into Alfa’s 3-year network modernization plan which includes investments to upgrade 80% of the network infrastructure, ensuring future and 5G readiness while also advancing the company’s digital transformation journey.

He pointed out that “investments in network modernization now constitute around 17% of revenue, up from 7% in 2024 with the support of Minister Hage”. He also announced the completion of the Alfa Data Center in line with international standards which will ensure service continuity, support emergency response plans, and open the door to new partnerships with developers and companies, paving the way for broader integration of AI in Alfa’s services.

Nassif also discussed Alfa’s plan to improve service quality and coverage across Lebanon. He said: “we are working on a comprehensive Radio Access Network (RAN) upgrade, adding new sites and decommissioning the 2G network by the end of this year, while simultaneously increasing the readiness and efficiency of our sites with 3CC and 4CC capabilities”. He stressed that “Alfa remains committed to sustainability by investing in alternative energy. Currently, 33% of our network (444 sites) is powered by solar power, an annual increase of 11%.”

He noted that Alfa is conducting a 5G feasibility study with the initial plan involving the deployment of 100 to 150 5G sites in hotspots following the study’s completion.

He also shared latest insights related to Alfa’s digital transformation journey, a core pillar of the company’s strategy, highlighting that 350,000 subscribers use the website and mobile app for various services, and that 17,000 users interact monthly with Alfa through Chatbot and Live Chat. He explained that 65% of Alfa’s revenue comes from data, and 64% of that data consumption is through social media platforms. He emphasized that Alfa would continue to support the high reliance of its users on its digital platforms and customer service channels, noting the company’s direction to integrate AI services across all of them.

Nassif confirmed “Alfa’s full readiness for the summer season, expecting a 10% increase in data consumption”. He pointed out that the average monthly data usage per subscriber has reached 9.2GB, with 93% of that consumption being on the 4G+ network. He also shared that Alfa is in the process of transforming its Network Operations Center into a fully digital, AI-powered center to improve service quality and monitor the network more effectively.
