General tips

  • Turn on the passcode on your device
  • Choose a strong passcode
  • Set the device to lock after 5 minutes of inactivity
  • Download apps from official app stores only
  • Install an Internet security app from an official store
  • Turn off the beaming service
  • Do not connect to unsecure WiFi networks and try to avoid public hotspots
  • Wipe the device clean of info before selling or giving it away
  • Do not root or jailbreak your device
  • Backup all data (such as contacts, photos and any important documents)
  • Check app permissions carefully before installing
  • Always accept updates from the device manufacturer; these updates are often to fix security problems
  • Install a remote wipe/lock app
  • Keep your apps updated
  • Get rid of unnecessary apps
  • Always use a VPN
  • Change your default WiFihotspot password

Install an antivirus to protect your devices against malware.
Install parental control to protect your children and limit what they are exposed to online.

Apple Devices

  • Use a strong password for the iCloud account
  • Select difficult security questions for your iCloud account
  • Download apps from Apple Store only
  • Enable two-step verification for Apple ID
  • Update to the latest IOS version
  • Disable tracking; limit certain apps from tracking you in the background
  • Search using the do-not-track service; change your search setting to a DuckDuckGo. To enable, go to settings > Safari >search engine >select DuckDuckGo as your default search engine while using Siri, Safari, or other apps
  • Prevent apps from uploading your data
  • For perfect privacy, change the access of each app manually by going to settings >privacy > select any app > switch the ON or OFF button, depending on which third-party apps you want to give access to
  • Enable fingerprint security with Touch ID
  • Enable the Find My iPhone feature; it locates your device on a map if lost or stolen
  • Make your purchases secure; require passwords with every app purchase
  • Enable the Limit Ad tracking option
  • Disable the Access When Locked feature for Siri


Android Devices

  • Download apps from Google Play only
  • Download the latest Android updates.
  • Make sure the Verify Apps feature is enabled
  • Check app permissions before installing
  • Encrypt your data (phone and SD cards)
  • Disable tracking; limit certain apps from tracking you in the background
  • Use two-factor authentication for Google and other accounts


Use Complex Passwords

A strong password:

  • Should have at least 10 characters.
  • Contains uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  • Should not be found in the dictionary.
  • Should not be based on any personal information such as your birthday, name, surname, and phone number.
  • Should be changed every 30 days.



  • Choose PIN codes that are random and long
  • Pair with devices before exchanging data
  • Turn Bluetooth off when not in use
  • Install Bluetooth software patches and upgrades
  • Do not accept transmissions of any kind from unknown or suspicious devices
  • If a Bluetooth device is lost or stolen, unpair it from all Bluetooth devices it was previously paired with


I lost my SIM, what shall I do?

If you have an Alfa postpaid or Business line, drop by one of our Alfa stores in order to retrieve a new SIM card.

One of the following documents must be presented:

  • Identity card
  • Civil record
  • Valid passport
  • Lebanese driver’s license
  • Lebanese syndicate card
  • University card

You can also authorize someone else on your behalf to replace your SIM card. The authorized person should hold his/her valid identity card, along with an express delegation duly signed by the person mentioned in the contract. With regards to Alfa Business subscribers, the delegation must be stamped using the official company logo.


If you have an Alfa prepaid line, drop by one of our Alfa stores in order to retrieve a new SIM card.

One of the following documents must be presented:

  • Identity card
  • Valid passport

Several questions will be asked to confirm your ownership. Any available proof of ownership (information/documents) should be presented.



  • SIM replacement fee is$1.67 (excluding VAT)
  • SIM replacement is free of charge in the case of rebranding
